Walled Garden
Healey Wood Residents Association successfully developed the rear yard of Healey Wood Junior School with the support of local community members, faith organisations and school children. Walled Garden provides a place for people without access to garden space to grow herbs, flowers and small vegetables and social place to be active and enjoy the outdoors.
Throughout the process community had a chance to participate in various trainings i.e. Health and Safety in Garden, Food and Hygiene Certificate, Growing and Art Workshops. Children also took part in designing the mural with the help of a local artist.
The Mural was unveiled by local Councillor and senior citizens on 22nd April 09. On the day there were many organisations invited to display their information for the community and offering support to residents.
Project was supported by BBC, Northern Solar, Help Direct, Tesco Community initiative, LCC, Burnley Community Alliance, Ground Work, Off Shoots Perma culture Project.
